Ben GarrettPsychodynamic Psychotherapist - Clane/Maynooth, Kildare and Online.

A space to understand what keeps repeating

I work with adults who feel stuck in patterns they can see clearly and still can't shift, in relationships, in work, in how they treat themselves. Psychodynamic therapy is unhurried and open-ended: we follow what comes up rather than working through a fixed programme, on the understanding that the present makes more sense once the past is in the room. Sessions are weekly, 50 minutes, in person in Clane, Maynooth or online.

About

How I work

Psychodynamic therapy assumes that a lot of what shapes us isn't available to us on request. Rather than setting goals and techniques, we pay attention to what surfaces, what you avoid, what you repeat, what happens between us in the room, because that's usually where the useful material is. It can feel unfamiliar at first. Most people find the shape of it within a few sessions.I trained at PCI College and hold a BA in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I'm pre-accredited with IACP and work within their code of ethics, including ongoing supervision and continuing professional development. I've worked with anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties, and the long aftermath of childhood experiences, as well as with people who simply want to understand themselves better and live a more authentic life.
